coach vs. sponsor
« on: March 12, 2020, 10:57:52 AM »
I am curious to know if other decathlon coaches esperience the same angst. Time and again, I will go to the UIL (Texas) coaches training and ask, "Why are you here, you aren't a coach". When a district publishes a press release, they always shy away from the word "coach", preferring to use the word, "sponsor". It is as if the word, "coach" catches in their throat and they fear using it. Do we need to start wearing sweatpants to class in order to be considered a decathlon coach? (or) am I just being a bit irrational because I put to much into the specificity of the word?
I love deadlines. I love the whooshing noise they make as they go by.

Makes me wonder - are there legal considerations that attach to coaches that don't attach to sponsors?
